I just finished reading The Year of Fog by Michelle Richmond (thanks for the recommendation, Beth). Without giving away the story, the book has made me really look at memories and why we remember what we do. And as the main character is a photographer, lots of references to the reason we snap those shutters. I have often thought on that subject. Why do I take photos of the everyday, mundane moments of my life? What of my childhood have I forgotten and why do I cling to the memories that I do?
Obviously, this book has left an impression upon me. And as my horoscope references conversation and not taking it too far, I will end this entry now.

I bought this book last month. I have not read it yet, but this makes me want to pull it out.
Memories are such a funny thing. I don't always know why certain smells or sights trigger memories, but I am always amazed that they are still there....so clear.
Beautiful photo.
Thanks for the cyber hugs. Means a lot.
As you know, I've often said if something gives me the warm fuzzies, I shoot it. I, too, have wondered why certain things give me the 'warm fuzzies', compelling me to shoot them. I think I might look into this book. I just finished The Good Earth and am ready for another book.
I thought the same thing when I read it, and I loved that she was a photographer. Michelle is so descriptive in her writing, isn't she?
I'm glad you like it! I'm reading "Confessions of a Shopoholic" now...a little lighter reading, I'd say! ;)
well you know it's on my list now. thanks, b - and beth!
and eileen - smells... marigolds equate to my grandpa. i have very few grandparent memories, but the few i do are of him - such a kind and gentle man. anyway - marigolds --he always planted them around his vegetable garden to keep the bugs away.
