Bizzell Memorial Library

The OU campus is beautifully landscaped in most every season. This photo won't do the scenery justice and I'm sure my editing with iPhoto/Lightroom could be better. I'm experiencing a learning curve.

Testing a couple of blogging tools, this one Blogo.

Changes

Sometimes, when I can't concentrate on much else, I make changes to my blog. Nothing major. I didn't like the way the background graphic was blending on other systems. It wasn't smooth and often left a line. Time for a change. I do wish I could upload a background image on blogger to use. I know I did once before but can't remember how and if it is still even possible with the merger with Picasa. I've linked the background to Photobucket.

Let me know how it looks. I can only test it on smaller than 17 inch monitors and windows from home.

It's February!

We're one month closer to April, the month we'll all switch our complaining about the cold and snow to rain and more rain. ;) Was I complaining about the cold? After seeing the forecast for Sunday and the beginning of the week, I think I might want to head south with Da Bears. Oh well, winter is upon us.

Speaking of complaining, Blogger. One would think that the powers that be could at least acknowledge an issue that many are experiencing. Even as I'm typing this, I see more error messages. I know, it's a free service but a bit of courtesy to the many would be nice. Nice. Now that's a word, eh? There are times I think about hanging it up, no more blog or such. I'm lazy now, the thought of going back to old site where I have to create each page and link doesn't exactly excite me and moving to another hosting site isn't desirable either. We'll see, but perhaps it's time.

Wherever you are, have a beautiful day, stay warm and make it a Starbucks day.

testing

I am having trouble with Blogger tonight. I'm not able to reply to comments or do much so this is a test post. Blogger seems to be mighty buggy lately.

Well, I can edit from Dashboard but not the quick link and still get a blogger error message
" We're sorry, but we were unable to complete your request." when trying to post a comment or even view my comments. Seems to only be on my own blog, go figure. I'm too tired to mess with it tonight.

Blogger Nav Bar

I just applied this hack from Bloggeratto to my blog. If you place your mouse where the navbar should be, it'll appear but otherwise, it'll remain hidden. In IE7, you will not be able to mouse over to find the bar, it'll remain hidden.

Drop me a comment if you find it works or if you think it's annoying.

Beta Links

Sometimes, I just make things much more difficult than they need be. I had the coding right for links to open ( target='_blank'). I even had the correct place in the widget to do so but I kept getting errors. Finally, in an a ha moment, I realized that perhaps I wasn't leaving a space between the words. Seems that's what was needed.

If I could figure out how to type the code here without it becoming the code, I would. That's for another day, I suppose. But if you find your widget for links. It should look something like this

a expr:href='data:link.target' target='_blank'

The new in red.

Blogger Hacks

I managed another hack. This one a peekaboo post. You can find it here at Hackosphere. It's the Super Peekaboo entry.

Now that I've nothing to say, let's see what appears down below. I might be enjoying the new blogger layout methods. Now if only I could find a way to have my sidebar links open in new windows/tabs.

Blog

This blog may go wonky as I continue the migration process and hit the customize button transferring data to blogger's new code and formats. Wish me luck.

*Edit: I'm making progress but it's not quite as intuitive as I would like. I cannot find the coding to make my links open in a new window/tab. Overall, though, it's shaping up. I managed to remove the top nav bar, but it may come back as I sort of like the quick access. For some reason, I am not able to see my quick edit button in blogger even when logged in. I think it has to do with the way my ISP works.
