Five Questions

Cindi at Scenes From a Charmed Life recently participated in a Five Questions Internet exercise and at the end, the option to participate. In my "What the Hell" moment, I volunteered and these are my five questions answered.

1. What are the top 5 favorite tunes on your iPod as you write? (I had to do it – music is such a part of our lives!)

Currently, I've been listening to entire CDs as I've been on a buying spree but from each CD is a favorite song that seems to get just a bit more attention, along with an older favorite.
Turpentine—Brandi Carlile
Away Down the River—Alison Krauss
A Different World—Bucky Covington
False Alarm—KT Tunstall
Whiskey Lullaby—Alison Krauss with Brad Paisley

In my playlists, always you will find Jimmy Buffet and right now the song Everybody's On the Phone and Breathe in Breathe Out are getting lots of airplay. It's difficult to get a clear picture of my musical tastes as you asked for current top songs and not top songs of all time.

2. If you could be in any profession, other than the one you are in, what would it be?

Motherhood as a profession is 24-7 and never ends, even when children grow up and leave the nest. Our roles change but still, we're mothers. A profession outside of stay at home mom? Well, I know it wouldn't be accounting. Good question as I don't want to second guess my decision to stay home. I could see myself as a social worker/counselor and perhaps making use of my camera in some capacity.

3. What is your favorite sound?

My favorite sound, now this is tough as I've never really thought of a sound in quite those terms. I enjoy the sound of a gentle rain at night, the gurgling sound a river makes and waves as they come ashore on a rocky beach. And let's not forget the sound of water as it moves through a coffeemaker, creating that delectable brew. A theme, I do believe. Water. The sound of water.

4. If you knew you had 6 months to live how would you spend that time?

This one is very thought provoking. Some would say to live like you were dying and try to experience all those things, like skydiving but in reality, it's the little, everyday things that make your life what it is. In keeping with that, I would want to experience each moment as it unfolds and let go off all the life's baggage. When ever I look at this question, I think what am I waiting for? Why is it so difficult to say the words that are in my heart to those near and dear me? What am I afraid of? Getting hurt? Well, the hurt is already there so what do I have to lose? Once again, things to think about and implement in my life.

I remember a segment I saw once where a mother knew she was dying and made videos for her daughter. That struck a note with me. I think I might want to write or make a video for Megan as she encounters life's events. Graduation, marriage, children, all the big events and sometimes not so big. Just words and thoughts that I might say if I were there.

5. What is your favorite place to be/visit on the planet?

This one is easy even though I've not been everywhere on this great big planet but I am drawn to the water and lighthouses. So anywhere I can find both.

6. An optional question: What is your very favorite television program of all time?

Favorite TV show of all time? All time? How can I choose? So many shows have come into my world, entertained me, educated me and taken me to far off worlds. To choose just one is difficult as some were only on a short time or what was once my favorite, must-see-tv, evolved as I changed. I was once addicted to Star Trek, The Next Generation. ER has been a long time favorite.

And as I finish this little exercise, I realize I'm missing Oprah, another longtime favorite of mine. If you, too, would like to participate in this little adventure. Drop me an email: photobonnie [@]gmail.com.

Thank you, Cindi. Your questions were excellent and now I must work on my Five Questions, just in case there are any takers.
