Strong Women

Strong Women © 2007 Megan Underwood

When God made woman,
weakness was not in the genes,
submission to men never existed,
for man is not a God.
So, beautiful women,
be strong, faithful and,
independent.
Speak the mind of yourself and sisters,
and if anyone cares to stop you,
never succumb,
always fight back.
Never be afraid of attention,
thrive on it and its power,
and as for the selfish man;
Tell him exactly where to go!

A poem Megan wrote for her American History class. I'm not sure how long I will leave this as public but for now, it is here.

She's the one with a talent for writing. Her poetry assignment was for history and had to be in the style of Langston Hughes and Dorothy Parker.

Everyone in the world should read this. Megan is amazing! I know that she's so smart, but she's incredibly creative, too.

wow. o wow. BIG wow.
she is her mother's daughter. i am SO touched by this. i love seeing a young woman so secure and so confident and so strong. i knew she must be an amazing girl, but wow. o wow. huge fan of dorothy parker here. huge.
i understand you wanting to protect her work, but i agree with wynne - somehow, somewhere, someday it should be seen by the masses.
bravo megan.

Thanks cindi. Funny thing is, she's been telling me that it's not really great writing, that it'll work for the history project but an English teacher would rip it to shreds.

I think she did great with it.
