The day after Thanksgiving is known as Black Friday to the retail market. It's the day that the stores hope to turn a profit, taking their bottom line from red to black. After a stop at a couple of stores, we spent some time outside. Hard to believe that it's the end of November when you see a bee on the flowers. (Cell phone pic).

A stop at Mill Hollow park in Vermilion, Ohio brought me face to face with some Canada Geese. Lots and lots of geese that have yet to migrate further south. Many will stay.

Oh how I longed for a different camera. I only had my small point and shoot with me (no real zoom) and my camera phone. This heron let me get so close. I'm not sure I've ever been so close. These birds fascinate me. They are the most intense hunters and almost prehistoric in nature.

While I was watching the GBH
The geese took flight and in groups landed on the duck pond. The ducks have all migrated but the geese were quite a sight as they filled the small pond.

The duck pond is a popular spot for families especially those with children. I, myself, have taken my daughter there to wander around and feed the ducks. Our Tigger always enjoyed the park, too.
I couldn't have spent Black Friday in a more enjoyable spot. Eventually, we made our way to the mall and met up with the rest of the family, refreshed and ready to handle the crowds.

Sounds like you had a wonderful day. We avoided the shopping areas also... well at least most of the day. We did make a Best Buy run to pick up some software on sale. Not painful at all. By that time, I think everyone had shopped until they dropped.
Thanks Shirley. Oh, I spent some time shopping but it was nice to be outside, too.
That heron...what a serene and regal looking bird...you see some amazing things Bonnie...
Thanks Blue.
I am fortunate sometimes, to see some amazing things.
