The Word is TOUCHDOWN

This short stay at camp gave me a glimpse of what the future holds. Nope not looking forward to sending my girl off to college!! If I were more alert and awake, I'd write something more meaningful but instead another photo of Touchdown Jesus including the reflecting pond. I was hoping to get back into the basilica, but a wedding was taking place. How dare they? A wedding in June on a Saturday!! But oh what a beautiful place to get married.

* Photo notes:
I'm not too good with perspective correction. This is the best I could come up with.
This image made possible with the acquisition of a new lens. An 11-18mm Tamron DI IF lens. DI for Digital and IF for Internal Focusing.

Back to Notre Dame

The Word of Life (AKA Touchdown Jesus). On the road again. Catch ya later.

*Note, some of my images are linked through flickr and they are having difficulties this morning. Hopefully, things will be back to normal soon. I'm only showing one entries to limit the image loading problem. More words later.

Basilica of the Sacred Heart

I'm a bit tired. Spent yesterday driving to Notre Dame to drop off Megan at a basketball camp. Traffic was a nightmare so after registering and making sure she was settled, we wandered the grounds of Notre Dame. The Basilica was built in 1871 and I have to tell you it's beautiful. A wonderful place to unwind after the traffic of Chicagoland.

On our last visit to Notre Dame, it was winter and very bleak. I can understand how the founding Father could confuse two lakes for one. The university's official name, University of Notre Dame du Lac, translating to Our Lady of the Lake. One day, I will have to find the lakes.

Saturday, on our return to Notre Dame, we are going to try to get back inside the Basilica, time permitting. The inside is a feast for the eyes and a rest haven for the heart and soul. I did take a few photos and here is one. When I am a bit more awake, I'll share some of the history of the Basilica and it's artwork.

For now, I need coffee. Happy Friday!
