Anniversaries

Not only does today mark the 30 anniversary of Elvis' death but 21 years of marriage for me. But what to do when the songs of Lori McKenna's latest CD seem to sum up the past year or so? From Confetti
Now you're tearing me up inside
Tearing me up inside
It feels like something in me died
Feels like something in me died
All of the bright colors that lived inside of me
Are now just tiny little pieces
Of what we used to be
And it feels like
Confetti
There are other songs from the CD that have a ring of truth to them so maybe the best way to bring back that feeling is to follow Bon Jovi's advice in 'Till We Ain't Strangers Anymore
Ill just go ahead and lock the door
If you'll just talk to me baby
Till we ain't strangers anymore

Lets put our two hearts back together
And we'll leave the broken pieces on the floor
Make love with me baby
Till we ain't strangers any more

There seems to be a lot happening in my world with back to school events and one last road trip to St. Cloud, Minnesota and hopefully their meteorology department. We've sent off the first college application. I do believe this is one year of high school that is going to go by way too fast for me.

Looking at the above, I've left off punctuation on purpose. I've been informed that colons are rarely used except in listing items but when reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Gallows, colons seem to be a favorite. Maybe it's a British thing but really, when you see a colon used in a sentence (not a list), it does look odd. And I freely admit that I have a love affair with the comma. Whenever I pause in thought or word I tend to add a comma. Commas are just so wonderful. ,,,,,, See, they are just so cute, dangling along,,,,,. I make no apology for my poor grammar.

My thing is to use ellipses... ;D (and exclamation points!!!)

Anniversary greetings, my friend!!!

I remember the day Elvis died and what I was doing when I heard the news. Funny that I remember those details and don't know where I left my glasses!!! This morning, I found three pair of my glasses on the bathroom sink. Apparently I don't like to 'do my business' with my glasses on. :D

That's the other thing I like... ellipses.!! But I know I misuse the comma most often.

I was young when Elvis died, like 13. It's a blip in my summer life. He seemed so old to me by that time.

LOL, Shirley. At least I have some memory of Elvis. Your daughter, he's always been some dead guy. ;)

well, i'm thinking about your anniversary. :( i'm sorry it's a rough patch. i know that feeling all too well. fortunately (for me) it does come back around. so far. but i do relate and am sending a hug and hopes for your happiness - however that may come.
i remember elvis' death only because lucas was almost a year old and had just started to walk. we were in the bar of a local restaurant and i was chasing him around the tables when the news came in...
me? i'm a semi-colon girl. probably because they're kind of a mystery to most people. ha!
