I was going to write about the word only. It's power to hold one back. It is a powerful word in the English language. It has the power to alienate and discriminate. Only if you are ______ fill in the blank. It is a word full of regret. If only I hadn't said what I did. If only I had done this instead of that. If only I were this or that. A word that creates so much isolation and yet it is such a small word.
But then I saw Oprah with Gary Zukav this morning. And the topic was spiritual growth within a marriage and intention. Intention, that's another powerful force and often speaks to why we do and say what we do. Often our intention is based on our own fears. The only way to create the relationships one wants in life is to change and grow as a person. To realize that we are all worthwhile people and stop our own destructive intentions. I have them and I have been trying to let go of my old fears but they still have a strong hold on me. I've often talked and written about the only person you can change is yourself and how a change in yourself can bring the very change in your life that you've been wanting. Our own behaviors do affect how others interact with us.
A lot for me to think about today and perhaps a new book to read by Gary Zukav The Seat of the Soul.
