As the new season unofficially starts, mine is contemplating hanging up the shoes and concentrating on other interests. It's been a long time of playing ball and sacrificing study time, not to mention free time. The team's dynamics are changing and not necessarily for the better.
As I've reminded her, your goals throughout life will change as you grow and experience more of life. That's just the way life is, always changing.
It does not come lightly, this decision.

I know the feeling when I had to hang up the guitar and playing music professionally.
You played music professionally? I did not know that, Michael. I hope you still find the time ot pick up your guitar.
There comes a time in high school, especially where interests change. It's hard to make a decision like that when it's something that you love and have done for a long time. But high school is also the time to try other things because there isn't always time for doing that in life after high school.

thanks wynne. She gave this more thought then when she quit band. She's always enjoyed playing basketball and will continue to so, just not on an organized school team.
