Espresso Magic

It's hard to imagine, but I've only been a coffee drinker for a little over 10 years. My addiction began while living in Seattle and Starbucks. There was a time that I couldn't even stand the smell of the coffee and now, look at me. My day is not complete without espresso. With the new espresso machine, I've been indulging even more as I enjoy the process of making the perfect drink, starting with grinding the beans, to steaming/frothing the milk and creating the perfect shot. Maybe not as ancient as the Chinese Tea Ceremony but I try to bring to the process an awareness. As you take that first sip, think about the journey your coffee has been on from the mountainsides of a small country all the way to your table. It has traveled far and been handled by many individuals who all should be honored as you partake in your morning ritual. Slow down and breathe deeply, enjoy the brew.

Have a beautiful day. Slow down whether you drink coffee, tea or water and cherish the moment.

you almost make even me crave a cuppa'... funny, but i have felt over the years that i'm missing out on something by not being a coffee drinker ~ there is such a ritual to it. ironically i grew up with a mother who had a coffee cup in her hand every waking moment. (in looking back now i think she needed the caffeine to stay awake; she worked nights and had 5 kids!) i watched as my kids were growing up and became coffee drinkers ~ it's how they would socialize w/their friends in high school and later college. i do feel like i'm missing something here...
