On Lighthouses , Time and Heart

As I've mentioned, I have a certain affinity toward lighthouses. This lighthouse, Grosse Point in Evanston, Illinois is my closest lighthouse. I find myself battling traffic often to wander it's grounds. It is accessible and easily approachable, even touchable. I came upon a song yesterday that sums up lighthouses nicely. I'll share a few of the stanzas.

Lighthouse by The Waifs
Sometimes I need a lighthouse for my own
It gets so dark I can'’t see which way I a’m going
Oh lighthouse man I a’m all at sea
Shine a little lighthouse light on me
Lighthouse man
I a’m all at sea

Shine a little lighthouse light on me

Won'’t you light my lonely way back home
This sea is full of misery and woe
Oh woe betide those that say

They don'’t need no light to light their way

They think they a’re safe enough on their own

Drown in murky depths below

We all need a lighthouse for our own

It gets so dark I can'’t see which way I'’m going

Oh lighthouse man I a’m all at sea

Shine a little lighthouse light on me

Lighthouses, whether they be brick and mortar or something spiritual or even the people in your life, offer support and help us through those dark times. Adding comfort and a reminder that we don't have to do it alone.

Now for time and the heart. I saw The Lake House last night and truly enjoyed the movie, as unbelievable as the plot line. But as the romantic in me came out, I suspended those beliefs. Love, it seems to me, exists outside of normal time. The heart, it knows no time, loving in an instant and lasting a lifetime.

Thanks, Shirley. I just did some editing to fix the original formatting. Can't promise words each day but who knows.

I may keep them both up and running, fletch. I haven't decided. Kind of trying out the Blogger thing. I do like having comments more easily available so will probably keep it up and running. Thanks!!
